In 2019, six-track album “the Dereliction of Brother Hill” was released beginning with the launch of a short film “Little Sadie”, based around the first single and second track from “the Dereliction…”. This ambitious project features the introduction of the first “Hill Spirit” Knuckles (Kyle Lyons) playing a ghost who finds Brother Hill in a dilapidated cabin in the woods and in a dream shows him the spirits the ballad was written about. The spirits of the music were taking on lives of their own and a saga was weaving around them.
As the music gathered steam, Brother Hill and the Hill Spirits officially hit the stage in January 2019 and began touring Ohio over, expanding their musical territories both regionally and internally. The project now consists of Kyle Lyons (Knux) on banjo, Eric (the Reverend) Osborne on fiddle, Ben Keith Stewart on guitar, George Joseph van Fossen (Old Dutch) on double bass, Brother Hill on lead vocals, bodhran, & guitar and the whole crew singing in joyous, raucous unison.
The Hill Spirits are currently in the process of finishing their first full-length album which will be released in 2020.
