Florian Dohrmann, born in 1972, studied jazz and pop double-bass at the Musikhochschule Stuttgart. He founded a number of ensembles, among them Modern Walkin’ with Rainer Tempel, which he used to put his musi- cal ideas into practice, publishing his own material and giving concerts all over Europe.
1997 saw the creation of the David Orlowsky Trio, and henceforth Dohrmann concentrated his conceptual and composing skills on this ensemble. Schott Music/ Advance Music published a selection of his compositions in the music books of the David Orlowsky Trio. He also records as a sideman for a variety of productions, or devotes his time to his own projects. In 2006 he set up the Florian Dohrmann Quartet, a cool jazz band with which he released the CD Medium Dry.
In 2019, after making music together for 21 years, the David Orlowsky Trio will play its last concerts and their collaboration in creating their „“ will end. They produced 6 CDs with Sony Classical, were awarded 2 Echo Klassik prizes and performed lots of concerts in Germany and abroad, playing at renowned festivals like Schleswig-Holstein Musikfestival and the ones in Mecklenburg-Vorpommern as well as in concert halls such as the Concertgebouw Amsterdam and the Carnegie Hall, New York.
Now Florian Dohrmann turns back to his roots and introduces his latest jazz project ”Blank Page - New Impressions of Debussy”.
