Ryan Watson, frontman and vocalist of Faceplant, became an immediate YouTube sensation when he was 9 years old by performing a live cover of Crazy Train at Rock the Farm 2011 that garnered nearly 8 million views.
On his path to becoming a child rockstar, Watson went through several unsatisfying lineups until happening upon a group of compatible musicians in his hometown, Westminster Maryland. He ditched his prodigy image and began writing serious music with Faceplant in December 2013. Since then, Faceplant has experimented heavily with various D.I.Y. Punk and Hardcore sounds, but have settled on a combination of ringing melodic guitar hooks with complex drum-work reminiscent of Post-Punk, Emo, and New Wave. While there are no overt innovations in Faceplant's music, their strong identity and clear sense of purpose have inspired several artists in the DC/Baltimore/Philadelphia scene.
