With nods to influences like Fleetwood Mac, Jack White and Fiona Apple, the Canadian group creates a fresh sound by fusing elements of rock, pop and r&b.
Too Soon Monsoon’s debut full length record (Waves: May 3/19) is a concept album, influenced by the South Saskatchewan River running through their home in Saskatoon. The record carries the listener on an emotional journey along with the band while speaking to universal themes like interconnectedness, growing up, love, seeking purpose and slowing down to appreciate yourself, one another, nature, art and spirit. Being a band that consists of an Indigenous drummer and two non-indigenous members, TSM’s goal is to create art that allows people to come closer together & recognize our common desire for love, joy and acceptance.
Too Soon Monsoon initially formed as a duo near the end of 2016 after Greg (vocals/keys) had posted a 'bandmate wanted' ad online to which Nathan (drums) was quick to respond. As a duo, TSM released 2 EPs in the second half of 2017 (Little Fire and Side Effects). TSM has performed at Breakout West, SaskJazz Festival, Ness Creek Music Festival, Winterruption, Big Winter Classic and opened for PVRIS, Mo Kenney, Busty and the Bass and Scenic Route to Alaska.
The band explored 2019 in a different form, embracing a new energy and sound. Too Soon Monsoon will be kicking off 2020 with two exciting festival slots: Big Winter Classic (Calgary) and Winterruption (Edmonton) and then begin writing new music.
