Born and raised in Brixton, South London, singer/songwriter Jake Isaac grew up with a yearning for music, passing music grades in percussion, bass, and piano by his teens.
With his father Lee Isaac a reverend in his local community -- and the founder of the street safety charity Street Pastors -- Isaac regularly attended church, growing up with worship music. An early performance at a festival in Hastings, U.K. cemented his desire to work in the music industry and by the age of 18 he was working with the likes of Daniel Bedingfield, Natalie Imbruglia, and Duffy. Isaac also contributed to the iEqualsChange band -- a movement to inspire and empower young Christians -- released two live albums, and was nominated for a MOBO in 2010. Inspired by artists such as Paul Simon and even the Libertines, Isaac continued to pursue a solo career outside of the church and released his debut EP, Hearts & Parables, in 2012. A regular on the live circuit, 2013 saw the release of the live EP Back to You, while Isaac also worked with the likes of British soul star Gabrielle. 2014 saw the release of the War Child EP, support slots with Ella Eyre and Joan as Police Woman, and as the Saturday stage opener for The Other Stage at the Glastonbury Festival. After catching the attention of Elton John, Isaac was signed to his Rocket Records imprint in 2015, and delivered his debut EP for the label, Where We Belong. Continuing his non-stop live shows, Isaac supported Paloma Faith on her U.K. tour, performed at a slew of U.K. summer festivals, and had toured the U.S. by the end of the year. After another year of hectic touring, Isaac returned to the studio in 2016 to start recording what would become his debut album. The first fruits of his efforts appeared in early 2017 with the release of the single Waiting Here -- a re-recording of an earlier track. Another single, I Got You, followed shortly afterward, and the album Our Lives arrived in May. ~ Rich Wilson, Rovi
