ACROSS THE GREAT DIVIDE are three passionate artists from Americana, Celtic and Scandinavian traditions.
From their empathetic arrangements of evocative and soulful Celtic airs, to wild and vibrant jigs, reels, Americana and Swedish compositions, Across the Great Divide bring a new fusion of artists and instruments not normally gracing the same stage. Together they explore musical diversity with a unique expression that reflects the group’s love for the music.
Karen Jones - (NZ)
music specialist, vocals, clarsach, guitar
With many years living, learning and playing in Edinburgh, Karen developed a love and great respect for traditional Scottish song and music.
Tony Burt - (NZ)
composer, film maker resonator, guitar
Tony’s repertoire of Americana influenced music composition stems from the love of the resonator lap steel as an expressive instrument and equally from exploring the world through film making and music respectively.
Hanna Wiskari Griffiths - ( Sweden)
music tutor and ETHNO NZ co ordinator, vocals, soprano sax
Hanna bringing the rhythms and traditional style melodies borne from her Scandinavian homeland.
