In Inpaine’s, 23 years of life, he has undergone surgery 28 times, watched liver cancer claim the life of his father when he was just seven years old, and been kicked out of the house at the age of twelve.
Despite the challenging journey, Inpaine pushed himself until he finally got an opportunity to headline his first show at the West End Lounge in New York City. Inpaine’s passion for rapping started when he was 14 years old, as he found it to be an outlet for him to express his troubles with anxiety and depression. Fascinated by the storytelling of J. Cole, The Notorious B.I.G., and Eminem, as well as the versatility of Kendrick Lamar and Jay-Z, Inpaine started building his rap reputation by participating in the rap battles and cyphers that would happen in his neighborhood of Spanish Harlem. When he won his high school talent show when he was fifteen, young Inpaine got a taste of what his future could hold. Since then, Inpaine has gone on to release a variety of mixtapes, recorded partially in his homemade studio. In March 2019, Inpaine released his uber personal debut album “Son of Douglas,” touching on topics such as depression, mental illness, and alcoholism. With Inpaine’s plan to release more content as well as play more shows in the future, it’s clear that the trajectory for his career is angling upwards.
