Sometimes art and life take us on different paths than we expect. One door closes, another opens. Sometimes that happens fast, sometimes it takes years.
Sometimes you’ve gotta disappear and try to figure yourself out. Sometimes what a community expects of us is quite different from what we expect of ourselves. And sometimes you just need to take a break and do something else for a while.
Michael Falk has produced festivals, runs a studio, booked venues, and put out records for other artists he loves at his label Head In The Sand. Over the years he has worked with Apparat Organ Quartet, Ghost Twin, Dave Quanbury, Rococode, VIKINGS, Heartbeat City, Royal Canoe, and many more. He was in a band called Les Jupes.
Touching began as a name to give Michael's songwriting project without a clear path yet. It expanded to include Alasdair Dunlop (Sweet Alibi), Dave Quanbury and Sandy Fernandez. Touching played a few shows at local festivals, started their own block party called SpaceLand, and then pressed pause to hunker down and focus on writing a big batch of music, the beginnings of which they have started releasing. Isolation Blues Vol. 1 and Vol.2 are out now, accompanied by a one-shot video for each song, made in collaboration with actress Ali Tataryn (Lovesick) and filmmaker Tyler Funk.
