Kelly says, "I now look at Kicking Harold much as a painter looks at things. I go into my studio alone and come out with a painting I have created with sound. It has become a very special, solitary process that I enjoy very much. This all started when I would work with other artists as a music producer. I was creating entire tracks myself for these artists to sing over and eventually this lead to doing the same thing with my own tracks as well. I would make "demos" with the intention of having the live band record them but they came out so good, I realized the tracks were done and the last step of rerecording them was not needed. I may go back to tracking with a band again at some point because there is a chemistry when certain players record together that is pretty special but for now I love the creative freedom of being a lone mad scientist in the studio."
When playing live, Kelly has been joined by Michael Odabashian on drums and Julia Lage on bass since 2015. This well oiled power trio will be back in action in support of Kicking Harold's upcoming 6th album in 2019 and beyond.
