Rick Clark grew up immersed in music in his hometown of Memphis, TN, a place where Rock, Soul and Blues was everywhere.
His first records were New Orleans Dixieland jazz by Sweet Emma & The Preservation Hall Band and raw British Invasion LPs by The Yardbirds and The Kinks. During the 70's onward, Clark performed and recorded throughout the South and was part of the seminal Memphis Power Pop scene.
Along the way to making his own music, Clark wrote for numerous publications, including Mix, Billboard and Goldmine. Clark’s production credits include Los Super Seven and work with Death Cab For Cutie for The Band tribute Lost Highway and the hit TV show Weeds. Clark also produced 26 shows of Marty Stuart's American Odyssey for Sirius/XM radio.
Beginning in 1997, through a recommendation by the legendary producer Jim Dickinson, Clark produced the award winning Oxford American Magazine music CDs, which earned fans like T-Bone Burnett, Hunter Thompson, Cameron Crowe, Billy Bob Thornton, Dolly Parton and others.
As a Music Supervisor, Clark's credits include working with Jason Reitman on Up In The Air, Big Star: Nothing Can Hurt Me, Billy Bob Thornton's Jayne Mansfield's Car and TV shows Hell On Wheels, Hap And Leonard and Oprah Winfrey's Greenleaf.
It was during his work on Hell On Wheels that Clark finally decided to record and release his own music, which draws from many American roots music styles resulting in an organic sound that is cinematic and earthy.
