Unabashed, unapologetic and fun as hell. Those are the core elements of The Weird Sisters, named 2019’s Best Alternative Rock Band by the Nashville Industry Music Awards.
A culmination of the band’s entire evolution, from an organic collaboration between two friends to a full-fledged rock and roll machine, their self-titled debut album supplies a fearless blend of fuzzy psych rock, soulful blues and irresistible funk. Comprised of keyboardist, vocalist and saxophonist Gabrielle Lewis, guitarist Izaac Short, vocalist Caitlyn Crawley and drummer Jeff Brown, the collective recorded their debut LP in Nashville’s own Welcome to 1979 Studios and inside the basement of the band’s Madison, Tennessee home. From the gritty and mystical “Masterminder Rewinder” to the lingeringly haunting “John Coffey Style,” their tracks have earned praise from the Nashville Scene, Crave the Sound, Indie-vidually, Music Must Knows and more.
