Wistful Sound Gazers self-release "Bliss" introduced classically trained instrumentalist, singer-songwriter, producer Ron Christopher’s stash of influences, from airy ambiance akin to Enya , folksy guitars courtesy of Echolyn front man Brett Kull, to classical string swells reminiscent of a movie score.
The EP garnered indie music blog attention, including one Gods of reviewer comparing the vocals on “Push” to George Michael. The reggae-fueled track was streamed on’s global TruSonic service during the early 2000’s.
Nearly nine years passed, or as Ron says “life just happened,” before another WSG entry - a cover of Tommy James and The Shondells’ “Crimson and Clover” was released as a single in 2007 on Christopher’s label, City Avenue Records, and distributed by Orchard Enterprises.
A buoyant alt-rock shift from the mellower mood pop of “Bliss,” “Crimson and Clover” is one of WSG’s most streamed songs. Christopher’s classical side took front and center on 2010’s hip-hop Christmas ode “Lite Up The Tree” and he dabbled in country on the 2011’s country, funk single “Gonna Get To You.”
2017 saw “Wishful Is What Wistful Does,” released after another lengthy absence, becoming Wistful Sound Gazers' first entry in the Christian Contemporary category and introduced Wistful Sound Gazers’ debut video for the EP’s stirring ballad, “You Will Need.”
