The Astronaut King is a one man, guitar-heavy, and heavily improvised music project of Ian Covelli, started in 2007.
Originally inspired by the song "Charioteer (Temple Song)" by Earth, most songs are either delay saturated electric guitar, acoustic, and only occasionally have vocals.
Live shows have been a mixture of written/rehearsed songs with a great deal of improvised songs.
In 2015, a collaboration with psychedelic hardcore band Suffering Luna was released as a split album with funeral doom band Suffer the Storm.
