Spitphyre was started as Thomas’ side project, which featured songs that he had recorded in his bedroom originally not intended for the world to ever hear. However, he would eventually release the two singles he created under Spitphyre’s name in 2017 (Hurt Again and Low-Q). His song “Hurt Again” had gotten great praise from his peers which inspired him to pursue writing for Spitphyre more extensively.
He would keep the band as a solo project by collaborating with many different musicians, including good friend Buster Schuer of Cheap 52. In late 2018, Jake Valois would become the official drummer for the band, also from Fracture as is Thomas, while also featuring “Bulletproof Mike” (Also referred to as “The Enemy”) on the bass and Nick Spataro on guitar.
Spitphyre released their debut album “Sunset Skies” in May of 2019 and received great success within the first week of its release, surpassing their previous releases in listens in a matter of days. Opportunities continue to find Spitphyre which secured them a set opening up the Pleasantville Music Festival in July of 2019 where they opened up for Everclear, Soul Asylum, Matthew Sweet, Aimee Mann and more.
