Spanish indie rock band Valparadiso formed in the mid-2010s with an affection for power pop and '90s alt-rock.
Founded in Zaragoza by singer/guitarist Simón Franco, guitarist Alberto Solobera, bass player David Idoipe, and drummer Pedro Presa, Valparadiso signed with Sony Music for their debut single, "Rojo," in early 2016. Produced by Ramiro Nieto and Luca Petricca, the group's eponymous full-length debut followed in April 2016 and cracked Spain's Top 100 albums chart. Offering acoustic versions of four of the album's tunes, the La Isla EP was released that summer. ~ Marcy Donelson, Rovi
