Violin Dragoness is a solo project by Lydia Gentry, a classically trained violinist tuned to a different amplitude-- symphonic rock featuring vocals, electric violin, and live looping, based in the area of Cape Girardeau, Missouri.
Many have described Dragoness' style and voice as a mix of Florence + the Machine, U2, Rush, Patti Smith, Janis Joplin, as well as being inspired by the sounds of psychedelic rock, indie alternative, and Americana. She first got her start in 2016 by street playing on acoustic violin and released the singles Subdivisions and Limelight the next year, both originally performed by Rush. Dragoness completed her debut EP in April 2018, Exit 99 a mix of original and cover songs.
Lydia is now studying at Belmont University, located in Nashville, and now fronts her new band, Gentry Blue, while also occasionally performing solo in Missouri. Their debut single, Downfall, was released on October 18, 2019, and their latest single What Lies on the Other Side was dropped on July 31, 2020.
