Formed in New York's East Village in 2012, the Hidden Cities sound bursts with crackling, creative energy conjured from the streets of NYC.
From their origins in boozy bluesy rock n roll, the band evolved to swaggering dark dance tracks in a range of sound. After early days honing their angular blues rock with a killer horn section at high energy live shoes, the band released two EPs - All New Friends - EP and The Strange. Driving their Staxx-at-CBGB sound, lead single Little Black Dress was selected for the soundtrack to the hit video game The Crew 2 Soundtrack list, winning an international fan base.
While performing with national acts on legendary stages like the Stone Pony, Bowery Ballroom, and Webster Hall, Hidden Cities further honed their sound. Through influences such as Tears For Fears, Depeche Mode, Spoon, Queens of the Stone Age, and David Bowie, the band hit the studio in 2018 to record a series of tracks. The resulting hard-driving art rock incorporates synths and danceable beats. Their latest release Between Frequencies delivers more of the catchy street rock sound that is uniquely Hidden Cities.
