AURORAE's atmospheric and frenzied style, along with the energy in their live performances, show why the Tampa Bay postmetal quartet is a force to be reckoned.
AURORAE formed in 2015, and the current lineup is brothers Jordan (bass) and Justin (guitar) Medlen, Michael (Vocals), and Loren Whitaker (drums). AURORAE seeks to expand on the atmospheric sound of modern postrock and postmetal and add in their various influences from grindcore and blackmetal, to new wave alternative and jazz.
The brothers worked tirelessly writing and recording pre-production demos to hone their vision for their first body of work, which came by way of an EP titled Eos. Travis Orbin of Darkest Hour performed drums on the EP. Eos released in June of 2017. Troy Metz took over on drums moving forward and playing live shows.
Through the rest of 2017 and into 2018, AURORAE played many shows, having opened for bands such as Orphaned Land, Insomnium, Angel Vivaldi, Nita Strauss, Intervals, Jason Richardson, Rosetta, Dreadnought, Scale The Summit, Night Verses and more, and continue to build a strong following.
The end of 2018 saw AURORAE add a vocalist, though only briefly and also the departure of Troy Metz, who has been replaced by Loren. Michael Giorgi was added to vocal duty in June 2019.
AURORAE are always working on new material, so follow to be updated for each release that drops.
