March to May began under unusual circumstances in late December of 2012. The musical spark between Darren Guyaz and Beth Wesche arose around a roaring beach bonfire along a remote section of the Washington coast.
Neither of them had realized the musical potential they shared when they first met a few weeks before – and not until several more chance encounters did they realize the power of the musical chemistry between them. Once the spark hit, it didn't take long for them to catch fire, with listeners comparing their sound to acts like The Civil Wars, Damien Rice, the Swell Season, and Robert Plant and Alison Krauss.
Since then, they’ve toured throughout the U.S., opening for nationally-touring acts such as The von Trapps, Robert Wynia and 10 String Symphony. In November 2015, they headlined and filled the house of one of Seattle's most prestigious venues, The Triple Door. In 2016, they were one of twelve official showcasing artists (of a fourteen-state/province region) at the 2016 FAR-West Folk Alliance conference, and their music video. They released their debut album, Through the Night, in 2017, drawing rave reviews from esteemed publications including Glide Magazine, The Revue, Surviving the Golden Age, the Seattle Met, and more. Their album is currently in rotation around the country, including on PRI / NPR's Echoes program, which broadcasts on 130 radio stations (http://echoes.org/about/stations/) from Maine to California.
