Violinist, conductor, and countertenor Dmitry Sinkovsky has earned a reputation for virtuosity and expressive depth, combining his talents in a multifaceted career.
He was trained at the Moscow Conservatory, where he was a violin student of Alexander Kirov, and he continued his studies at the Zagreb Music Academy in Croatia, where he worked with Tomislav Facini as a student conductor. Sinkovsky also developed his talents as a singer, working with vocal coaches Michael Chance, Marie Daveluy, and Jana Ivanilova. As a violinist in the ensemble Musica Petropolitana, he came in contact with Marie Leonhardt, who persuaded him to pursue a career in early music. He later worked with Alexei Lubimov, Alexander Rudin, Teodor Currentzis, Martina Filjak, Andreas Scholl, Christoph Coin, Aapo Häkkinen, and Skip Sempe, among others. In 2011, Sinkovsky formed the ensemble La Voce Strumentale in Moscow, and conducted concerts around the world. He also served as a guest conductor of Il Complesso Barocco from 2012 to 2013, and accompanied mezzo-soprano Joyce DiDonato on tour in Europe. From 2017 to 2018, Sinkovsky conducted the Seattle Symphony Orchestra, the Helsinki Baroque Orchestra, the Dubrovnik Symphony Orchestra, Il Pomo d'Oro, and the B'Rock Orchestra in diverse programs, and collaborated with many other ensembles, including Kremerata Baltica, Il Giardino Armonico, MusicAeterna, and Musica Viva. As a countertenor, Sinkovsky has sung many roles from Handel's operas, cantatas, and oratorios, and performed vocal repertoire by Bach, Vivaldi, Scarlatti, and Gluck. He has performed with the Australian Brandenburg Orchestra, and with Russian soprano Julia Lezhneva in many performances. Sinkovsky has recorded for Naïve, Berlin Classics, and Naxos.
