New Orleans 1999, Magri became the drummer and bandleader for the Shim Sham Revue, one of the first authentic 1950s style Burlesque revival shows at that time.
In 2000, as drummer & bandleader of the Port Of New Orleans Jazz Band, Magri won the "Best of the Beat Award" from Offbeat Magazine for Best Emerging Traditional Jazz Band.
In 2001, Magri recorded his debut solo album, “Shim Sham Revue - Music of New Orleans Burlesque Shows of the 30s, 40s and 50s”. The album was nominated for two 2002 Offbeat awards for "Best Album by a Louisiana Artist" and "Best Emerging Band." In 2003, Magri was also nominated for a Big Easy award for "Best Traditional Jazz Band."
Magri has collaborated with modern day Burlesque star Dita Von Teese and has had his music used in her live performances.
In 2017, Magri had 3 songs from his “Shim Sham Revue” album featured on Broadway, in Noel Coward’s “Present Laughter”, starring Tony & Academy Award winner Kevin Kline.
