'Artists with genuine integrity and something relevant to say, Welsh and band are a must see.' - The Scotsman
Declan Welsh is a songwriter and poet from Glasgow. With his band, The Decadent West they create music that is unapologetic, direct and with a message of humanity. With performances in Palestine, Electric Fields and London Fashion Week under their belt in the last year, Welsh and his band are ready to take the next by storm.
New single ‘Shiny Toys’ sees the band at their most anthemic, drawing broad influence from the likes of Blur, Pavement and The Smashing Pumpkins. All chorus laden guitars and driving rhythm, the track serves as a perfect backdrop to Welsh’s vocals as he snarls through a story of friendship, rivalry and class division.
Taken from their upcoming debut EP, ‘Shiny Toys’ launches The Decadent West into 2018, which will see the band tour the UK extensively, including performances at The Great Escape and Stag and Dagger Festival as well as the launch of a book of poetry, written by Welsh over the past few years.
