Joe Russo

b. 18 December 1976, New York City, New York, USA. An accomplished musician, Russo has played drums often with pop and rock groups.

Among bands with which he has played are Danjaboots, Fat Mama, Tom Hamilton's American Babies, and Robert Walter's 20th Congress, but is best known for his duo performances with pianist Marco Benevento. Russo, who sometimes plays guitar, has composed several of the pieces he performs with Benevento, with whom he also plays in the quartet GRAB, the other members of which are Mike Gordon (bass) and Trey Anastasio (guitar). A dynamic and assertive drummer, Russo brings to his playing a fierce commitment that makes his contributions to the bands in which he plays both dramatic and memorable.
