With a knack for supremely flawless jangly guitar-pop, Manuel Joseph Walker is the brain behind Foliage.
His latest effort, "Silence", brings us to new heights, as the tracks heavenly melodies & dreamy choruses deliver on all levels of captivation. Alongside Walker, features his brother Anthony Walker on bass, Alex Lara on guitar, and Ethan Rodriguez on drums. After releasing "Truths", the debut Foliage LP & instant Bandcamp-classic, Walker had a fully assembled band behind him. Only a Junior in high school at the time, Walker acquired dear friend Alex Lara on guitar. Playing shows, and after going through a few lineup changes, the band took a hiatus. Manuel spent this time to write Foliage's sophomore LP "Silence". About an abusive relationship he was in, "Silence" is about realizing toxicity & moving forward. Walker also suffers from Obsessive Compulsive Disorder. A toxic relationship combined with an OCD-fused Walker left an impact on him. It might have worked out in his favor though. Manuel, now 19, is also the self-proclaimed producer & multi-instrumentalist songwriter of Foliage. After this hiatus, Manuel recruited his brother Anthony on bass guitar. Shortly after, Ethan Rodriguez joined the band on drums. On July 20th, 2017, "Silence", the sophomore Foliage record was released. Though a dreamy, jangly band on recording, Foliage is taken to an even higher tier live, providing an ethereal shoegazy atmosphere, while maintaining their modern post-punk & jangle pop sound.
