From 2005 to 2014, Dominik worked as a solo musician under the name Unmasqueraded, a project that slowly abandoned its roots in Progressive Doom Metal in favour of calm, melancholic Folk. After this project’s cancellation, he co-founded the Atmospheric Chamber Pop band Memoirs. But it soon became clear that he needed another creative platform for some of his singer-songwriter material that was both a continuation of earlier endeavours, and a stylistic offshoot of his work with Memoirs. That’s how his new solo project Sidetrack Walker came about. When Memoirs went into an indefinite hiatus in 2017, Sidetrack Walker became his primary musical outlet.
The first release under this moniker was a collection of piano improvisations from 2014/2015, “Confessions in Silence”, released digitally in 2017. Next up will be “Mirrors and Mirages”: Dominik’s first-ever piano-based singer-songwriter album, originally written between 2004 and 2006, that he’s finally been able to record properly. Most importantly, though, there is a brand-new full-length album in the pipeline, “Come What May”, which is ready for release and only needs a suitable label.
