Indie R&B singer/songwriter and pianist Vanalika Shan’s open-hearted sound is the result of years immersing herself in diverse cultures around the globe. The Indian-born artist has studied music in the United States, Australia, and India, drawing freely from American pop, Indian classical, and musical theatre to create an irresistible sound all her own. The name Vanalika means sunflower, which is fitting for an artist with such a bright, uplifting sound. Vanalika’s musical journey started out with singing in the school choir and within a few short years, she was performing at the Sydney Opera House, performing with legendary Indian artists, and starring in top quality musical theatre productions. She would go on to perform at iHeart Radio’s Jingle Ball at the American Airlines Center, the House of Blues, Gas Monkey Live, and several TV talk shows including Drew Pearson Live. As she came of age, Vanalika shifted her focus to writing her own songs. Drawing inspiration from her years of world traveling, her songs display a rare gift for uniting listeners with positive energy. “I want to brighten the world with my music,” she explains. “one sunflower at a time.” Vanalika Shan has accomplished a lot in her young career, and her story is just getting started.
