Pat Chessell has been singing for as long as he can remember. The Vancouver, Canada based singer and guitar player began his career at the age of ten as a guest with Belfast singer Danny Burns of the legendary Irish rebel group, The Wolfhound.
Now in his early-thirties, Chessell has become known as one of the most exciting Celtic acts in Western Canada, playing the region’s top festivals, nightclubs, theatres and special events. To sum up a Pat Chessell show, take an upbeat mix of original, traditional,
and contemporary songs, add some hilarious stories and informative background of the songs, and sit back and enjoy his passionate vocals and expert guitar playing.
Pat’s first two albums contain songs he wrote as well as songs originally made popular by some of his heroes such as The Clancy Brothers & Tommy Makem, The Irish Rovers , The Wolfe Tones, and more. His latest album - Lullabies and Battle Cries -
has received airplay on Celtic radio shows around the world. Chessell was also a guest musician on the album“Connections”, the most recent album of fellow Canadians, The Town Pants.
Pat Chessell has played all across Canada, throughout Upstate New York, and in his ancestral homeland of Ireland. He was a feature act in the Irish Pavilion at the 2010 Winter Olympics. Pat has opened for such acts as Derek Warfield & The Young Wolfe Tones, Delhi 2 Dublin, and Jim Byrnes.
