BYSTS [beasts] -- Dark wave psychedelia, lush pop arrangements, and moody hypnotic swells. Cleverly bending genres and wrapping blissful dissonance with a wall of guitar washes, a distorted bass, memorable hooks, hypnotic beats and interesting uses of melody.
The duo’s unique vision separates them from the numerous music acts releasing music on a regular basis. Their first tracks, in 2015, weave between post-punk, gothic and electro-dream pop, but their personal style comes through with the release of their EP “Dreamland”. If anyone believed the earliest incarnation of the Jesus & Mary Chain was destructively noisy, they haven’t heard anything. BYSTS are a demonic sound deconstruction conducted with vision by Bryan Holbrook (guitar, voice, machines) and Stefanie Marlow (bass, vocals, machines).
"You could call it coldwave, you could call it darkwave, but if anyone's invented a genre called post-apocalypticwave then this must be what it sounds like. The noise they make is huge and feels like brute force." - The Sound of Confusion
