The Brussels based multi-instrumentalist is sending his music out into the world as Barely Autumn
. His self-titled debut is a compelling, forty-minute synthesis of Barely Autumn’s melodical melancholy, in the same vein as Elliott Smith
. And even Nick Cave
’s and Neil Young
’s poetry is never far away.
Nico Kennes conceived the songs within the comfortable seclusion of his bedroom walls, only to then isolate himself with his band and producer Wouter Vlaeminck (Tomàn
) in the Ardennes forest.
