Ellie’s music explores the psychogeographical connection between people and place, along with lost and fragmented memories. Her debut single, Delta, was inspired by a first-hand account of someone recovering from a coma. Ellie explains “As the brain fired up, memories were replayed as if they were happening for the first time and then filed away in the correct place. At first, they came back slowly, but then the floodgates opened! It reminded me of a TV documentary I’d seen where a dried-up river bed was filled with water after a monsoon.”
She is also working on a solo album, with many of the works developed at a residency hosted by the Britten-Pears Foundation in the former home of composer Imogen Holst in Aldeburgh, Suffolk. Her compositions draw on contemporary classical, folk and electronica, with almost every sound created using just the violin.
