It was a trip to Lepe Beach, in the summer of 2016, which led musician, producer and creator Matt Brombley to start a blog: exploring ways of creating and releasing music that would be better for his mental health.
Following previous projects as a drummer, DJ and solo artist, and after recovery from a diagnosis of Ulcerative Colitis in 2014, MMTTHW started as short videos and soundtracks on Instagram, later growing to include longer soundtracks and video blogs. Free from formats and structures that felt burdensome and stifling, Matt found expressive freedoms that built back up the confidence and mental wellbeing that had been broken down by ill health.
Matt says: "The physical and mental symptoms of Ulcerative Colitis destroyed my self-confidence and made me withdraw from the world around me. Finding new ways to share with the world has helped me to be easier on myself, to open up and connect more with others, and to embrace imperfections as part of life and the creative process."
