BIRGIT (Birgit Sarrap, born as Birgit Õigemeel on 24th of September 1988 in Kohila, Estonia) is an Estonian singer. She started her musical career as a choir singer in Estonian Television children`s choir and learned violin at Kohila Music School. Birgit is the first winner of TV competiton "Estonian Idol", which took place in 2007, at the Italian culture festival "L'Olivio d'Oro" (Golden Olive) Birgit was the first non-Italian to receive the "Golden Olive Branch" award. She also won "Best Estonian female singer" award at Estonian Music Awards in 2013 and in 2010. Birgit represented Estonia at the Eurovivison Song Contest 2013 with the song

"Et uus saaks alguse" ("New Beginning") after she won and qualified at the pre-contest in Estonia, called "Eesti Laul 2013" Birgit has been involved in professional theatre productions: in 2007 she played the role of Sylvia in the stage play "Two Gentleman of Verona" (by Shakespeare) at the Estonian theatre Theatrum.
