Astute observers might notice that the Jemmi Hazeman alter-ego was derived from combining Yateman’s real name with Jimi Hendrix. This amalgamation of nomenclature was originally conceived as a spontaneous pun while jamming (stoned) with a friend back in 2013 — but the nickname stuck. Five years later, Hazeman released his first full-length album - Kozmic Maze - in April 2018. And in December of 2019, he released his 2nd LP – Phaze – which is, in some ways, an extension of Kozmic Maze — but with a futuristic edge.
The live band, known as Jemmi Hazeman & The Honey Riders, complements Hazeman's nebulous indie-psych-prog-pop-rock sound, with a sonic palette encapsulating influences such as The Beatles, Dr. Dre, The Strokes & Tame Impala (and beyond), coalescing into an aural tableaux rife with groovy, spacey trippiness. The group’s live performance includes not only renditions of Hazeman’s recorded songs, but also progressive & kaleidoscopic improvisational elements synergized by The Honey Riders. The lineup features Hazeman on guitar/vocals/keys, Jamie Dulin on bass/keys, Colt Caron on keys/vocals, Desmond Doneen on guitar/keys & Shane Fleisher on drums.
