For the greater part of the past decade, the young musicians of the brass quintet, Ensemble Schwerpunkt, have constantly shown that they will venture into new territory, push boundaries, and break with convention, working tirelessly to further develop new repertoire for their medium. With countless new works, they have helped raise the bar of the tonal and instrumental possibilities for brass instruments.
After winning the first prize at the Felix Mendelssohn-Bartholdy Competition in Berlin in 2012 and the International Jan Koetsier Competition in Munich in 2013, the ensemble has established itself on the European stage and showcases its experimental flair and dedication to originality, injecting its unique passion and unremitting precision into their work.
Ensemble Schwerpunkt's debut CD, "Schwerpunkt", was recorded in autumn 2017 and future projects include collaborations with highly sought-after composers such as Richard Ayres, Benedict Mason, Sergej Newski, and Mauricio Sotelo. Its musicians are also members of leading orchestras, chamber, and contemporary ensembles across the three germanic countries.
