Real Carrera is a Dominican-American producer and singer-songwriter born in New York City.
His eccentricity is often attributed to having lived a very unconventional childhood, fueled by the fast life of the drug scene in the early 90s. Living back and forth between different cities, led him to become acquainted with the concepts of loss and detachment at an early age; which he uses as a technique to help him draw inspiration for his music.
After years of constant travel and relocating between North America, Europe, and the Dominican Republic, he settled in the city of Providence, Rhode Island, where he began working to develop a raw and unique style of storytelling. In 2012, he relocated to Los Angeles, where his life was changed forever after a near-death-experience suffered in the shores of Venice Beach. This experience helped him develop the confidence to express his inner truths, while abandoning his definition of shame in the process.
Record after record, he continues to fuse seducing basslines with a raw Lo-Fi style of storytelling to produce records that explode with enchanting grooves and emotion. With tracks like “Drive Away,” “In Love With a Stranger,” and “STORM,” look for Real Carrera to be a major force in the electronic, Latin and urban music landscape for years to come.
