What started as an experimental recording project in the Bronx, NY, blossomed into a full band known as thelvnguage.
The four-piece takes a unique blend of jazz, funk, psychedelic, and indie roots, and incorporates that into their eclectic song-writing. The Deli Magazine describes the sound of thelvnguage as, “thick and creamy funk with some serious psych vibes, but wraps it all up in a neat, indie-pop package.”
Much like their influences, the group’s live performance contains numerous improvisational elements. Being a band that has an instrumental core, each show contains a unique, new improvised jam, contagiously getting the room to move. Some would place the group into a ‘jam-band’ realm, though categorically, thelvnguage does not precisely align with one specific genre.
In Live For Live Music’s recent Knitting Factory coverage they state, “With the release of their 2017 album, Movement, the quartet is quickly gaining a name for themselves in the New York music scene. Keep an ear out for thelvnguage in the near future, as these guys undoubtedly have something special going on.”
