Clara Strauch is a Swedish/American singer-songwriter. With roots in both New York City and on the island of Gotland, she is now based in Stockholm.
She released her debut album Persephone in 2018, and her dreamily poetic folk-pop earned media comparisons to Regina Spektor, Tori Amos, and First Aid Kit. Most recently, she played one of the roles in Mia Hansen-Løve's upcoming film "Bergman Island." An NYU Tisch Drama alum, Strauch is active as both actor and composer/musician in plays, and she was nominated for Outstanding Original Music at The New York Innovative Theatre Awards. She has also received the Swedish music grants and scholarships STIM-stipendium, Konstnärsnämndens Arbetsstipendium i Musik, and Kulturrådets Fonogramstöd.
Strauch's second album is coming in 2020, which will be 50/50 in Swedish/English since she was raised bilingual. The first single Där was released in November 2019 — her first song in Swedish, which got the following review from Popmani: "with her winding melodies and dramatic depictions of reality, Strauch now holds a completely unique place on the Swedish music scene."
