Patrick Siegfried Zimmer first hit the scene in 2003 when he released Expose Yourself To Lower Education under the finn. moniker. The album was met with instant international success. In 2008, he toured Europe with Ólafur Arnalds, one year later he took the legendary Montreux Jazz Festival's stage alongside Stephan Eicher (of Grauzone fame) and book author Philippe Djian (Betty Blue), and he has played multiple shows with José Gonzales. Thomas Winkler wrote in German weekly ZEIT: »Adoptive Hamburg resident Patrick Siegfried Zimmer a.k.a. finn. follows up, more radically than anyone else, on what Cat Stevens started once upon a time. He acts out that which is soft and elastic, drips balm on tormented souls and generously opens a window to his heartstrings for the world to look in.« The finn. project always was more than just music. It was an identity, a total work of art, crafted down to the last detail: the public persona, the record covers, the merchandise. After all, Zimmer is a graduate of design.
