Matthew Larsen and The Documents’ wry, introspective piano rock songs are a mainstay of the vibrant indie-folk scene of Western Massachusetts.
Sometimes they are witty, short and sweet. Other times they build into wall-of-sound codas. They reflect on technology, relationships, grief, serious health issues (Matthew underwent a stem cell transplant in 2005) and, of course, the future. “Holding Pattern” (2016) and “Apheresis,” (2011) are full of multi-part harmonies, guitars, bass, bells, and quiet percussion.
