Conceived in 2013 as a new creative outlet, Zachary Russell's Hello Xmas project features a wide array of instrumental Christmas music that weaves through several genres.
The namesake releases, produced by Joe Viers (Twentyone Pilots), "Hello, Xmas" and "Hello, Xmas II" are loud, fast-paced arrangements of classic songs while releases like "The Christmas Eve Takeoff" among others feature originals that veer into folksy acoustic and alt-pop vibes. Since 2013, the project has released music each November (reaching the five-year mark in 2017. Russell cites nostalgia, becoming a father, and an opportunity to spread positive notions in a world full of negativity as significant factors in deciding to make the solo project Christmas-themed. In 2016, Russell's music was featured in Six Flags' holiday shows.
