Miriam Cooke's new pop acoustic album ‘Freefalling’, produced by award winning multi-instramentalist Nick Pynn and Phil Ward, was released by First Night Records in Jan 2018.
Her music documentary on sound and music in Prehistory ‘Symphony of the Stones' for the BBC World Service in December 2017
Irish Folk songstress Miriam Cooke's music is a symphony of haunting melodies peppered with lively riffs of guitar, flute harp and violin. A powerful blend of the traditional and original.
Music layered with influences from; a youth spent in Ireland listening to incongruous mixes of traditional song, show tunes, 70's prog rock, Irish and English folk. The whimsical, often ethereal, content draws, too, from a gypsy life spent travelling continent to continent, recording and singing; working first as an international fashion model and later an actress, writer and broadcaster and presenter for the BBC ( Country Tracks), C4 , five, Discovery, Nat Geo.
"Miriam Cooke's new track Freefalling is a captivating symphony which comprises of timeless, yet haunting melodies, that are so poignant they’re almost empyreal. But what really stands out about this track is the essence that it's based upon. Her lyrics touch upon the travesty that the 21st century England has become to create a contemporary anthem that Billy Bragg would be proud of. " AnR<br>
