Previously releasing as Weikie, 2017 finally saw Her Name Is Calla's Adam Weikert release his debut album/book of poems 'USIDOH'.
Dubbed 'Serene' by BBC6 Musics Tom Robinson, USIDOH is an expansive Neoclassical opus written in increments across the years. Accompanying an 80 page collection of poems, written as a coping mechanism to a traumatic instance of his youth, it charts a more nuanced and introspective element of Adam's songwriting. Returning to the Piano, his first instrument, it splices his classical upbringing against his more contemporary leanings. Traditional waltzes sit astride audio from home movies, bowed saw, a custom programmed graphics tablet and more. Guitar tunings passed down through the generations fleck pathos across lamentful musings, whilst baroquian chords find home upon the raking jaunt of the Banjo. When coupled with the poems, the music provides a unique hue of happenstance to the listener, encouraging to them to find their own meaning and meter within the work.
After successfully crowdfunding his debut, and releasing several other projects under various pseudonyms, 2017 marks a taste of the projects to come, and with a new found confidence and enthusiasm, be sure to watch this space...
