Kielen King, originally from Saginaw, MI and currently residing near Portland, OR, gravitated to music at a young age and after seeing Run D.M.C.
in Krush Groove, he knew he wanted to be making music. While in high school, he found a couple of like-minded friends and formed a hip hop group together. After several years of honing his lyric writing and relocating, he got his start with cameo appearances rapping during the band Grooveyard’s live shows around Portland, OR.
Kielen’s compositions often carry a dark, melodic sound which often ventures into aggressive and sinister. The influence of hip-hop music is clearly evident by his use of aggressive drum tracks to complement his instrumentation. Kielen has released 11 albums: Addicted to Blue (as a member of Azure Noir), Soundtrack for an Automated Night, Soundtrack for an Automated Night II, Don’t Touch the Mask (as El Luchador Negro), Star Pilot's Lament, Star Pilot's Revenge, Star Pilot's Demesne, 8-bit Ships, Warmusic (as a member of Preytorians), Nathan Dunbar’s ‘Nightlife’, & Baby Boxing.
Kielen has carved out a niche with non-traditional hip-hop fans that exist adjacent to the Nerdcore genre. He also prefers to be known for his unique compositions and willingness to color outside the lines of traditional subject matter. Kielen makes music because he loves the feeling it gives him when he is working on a composition along with the unequaled rush he gets from performing live.
