Signal Hill is a 4-piece instrumental rock band originally from Los Angeles, California. The band started in 2004. Brian Vasallo (bass) and Rishi Neal Arora (guitar) met via the “Musicians” listings on Craigslist. Meanwhile, Dave Masters (guitar) had been jamming with friend Tim Cooper (drums). Eventually the four connected through their shared experiences and appreciation of musical influences within genres such as indie rock, instrumental/post-rock, electronic music and jazz. They were able to quickly connect with one another and began making music shortly thereafter as “Signal Hill”. In 2010, both Masters and Arora relocated to New York City. Despite the geographic separation, the band was able to continue collaborating, writing songs remotely from each coast. This long-distance songwriting continues at present with Arora now living in London. Signal Hill has released three full length LPs, two EPs, and one remix album. The band has shared the stage with various acts such as All India Radio, This Will Destroy You, Balmorhea, Beware of Safety, Tera Melos and Caspian. The name “Signal Hill” is taken from the location of the studio in which the band recorded many of their releases: the Compound Studio located in Signal Hill, California.
