Black Bear Rodeo is a rock band that formed in 2015 by guitarist/bassist/singer Charmin Chat Wrangler and drummer Juan Bonham.
Chet lost his job and went broke. Juan graduated from Columbia and couldn't find a job to pay a livable salary with his degree. Juan ran away to South America for several months and Chet played acoustic gigs to get by. Jaded, broke, and frustrated, Chet convinced Juan to come back to the states to start a band. Chet ran open mics on the south side and met Grease through them. Since The Grease was a guitar player and vocalist along with Charmin Chet they decided to start performing by switching up instruments and vocals, which led to their sets today where they constantly switch up instruments/songs. Eventually, they wanted some keys added to the lineup so they added GQ, a long time pretty boy friend of Juan and Chets. GQ is a bass player but also plays keys, so this meshed in well with the switching of the instruments routine. Much of their aggressive sound comes from frustration caused by the cesspool of lazy, uninspired, boring, music on the radio. along with their root influences of punk, rock and roll, and soul. They released their first album "Garble" to a packed house opening up for long time Chicago rockers Local H despite never playing a show prior. A year later they decided to record with famous engineer/producer Steve Albini at Electrical Audio, releasing a more aggressive raw sound on the EP "BUNK".
