Furnace Creek is an indie-rock band from Orange County, NY.
High school classmates Dan Wixtrom and Mark Hurey had been playing music together for two years before the band’s formation. During practice for a talent show, a friend said her little brother could play bass, although he was grounded. That little brother, Ian “Yendawg” O’Neill, became the final member and golden boy of the band. Thus, Furnace Creek was born! A few years, dozens of local gigs, some tours, EPs, and lineup changes they settled into a trio.
In the process of recording their first full length, Justin Cole joined the band as a lead guitar player, filling in the missing piece and completing Furnace. The following year, they announced their debut LP “Past My Prime” which was released on April 24, 2020. The album draws influence from bands like Manchester Orchestra, The Districts, Dr. Dog and Arcade Fire
“We spent many, many months creating this record in a studio church in Bergen County, NJ with our dearest friend Will Lauzon. Will is the best engineer anyone could ever ask for, and we are incredibly blessed by his presence on this record. Our album was mastered by our good friend Shayne O’Neil at West West Side Studios.”
