In 2011 the orchestra introduced "60 minutes" concerts which collaborates with artists from other musical genres. Two of the worlds most successful flash mob's are created by Copenhagen Phil: Ravel’s Bolero at Copenhagen Central Station and Grieg’s Morning Mood in the Copenhagen Metro. These videos have generated millions of views on YouTube and have made it to headlines all over the world – from CNN to Huffington Post and NHK Japan.
From the 2016-17 season the Japanese conductor, Toshiyuki Kamioka, joined the orchestra as chief conductor, a position which until then had been held by Chinese Lan Shui since 2007. With Lan Shui the orchestra has recorded the complete Beethoven Symphonies which has been very well received by audience and critics alike.
