While Peer Pressure took an effortlessly cool road to alt-pop greatness, L Devine’s new single Naked Alone is an immediately attention-grabbing experience. The track sees L Devine’s full-throttled vocal explode into life fuelled by heavy duty, funk-powered bass, furthering her patented brand of future pop invention.
She wrote the song during a frenzied 20min rush of inspiration with Swedish production duo INDIIA. L Devine takes up the story: “They played me a bunch of beats they made. I was like, ‘Cool, you got anything else?’ And they replied, ‘We have this other one but we made it with a rapper in mind so not sure if it’ll work’. I love a challenge, so was totally sold and determined to make this beat into a sick pop banger.”
As we’ve come to expect from L Devine, the song’s lyrics are playful on the surface but possess an insight into her generation’s experiences.
