Self-termed "kaleidosonic soul punch" band Bells Atlas consists of Derek Barber (guitar), Geneva Harrison (drums, percussion, keyboards), Sandra Lawson-Ndu (vocals, percussion, keyboards), and Doug Stuart (bass, keyboards, vocals).
The sound of the Oakland, California band is not rooted in one particular genre; eclectic in a fashion similar to that of Hiatus Kaiyote, their easiest pigeonhole is alternative R&B while they synthesize aspects of Afrobeat, contemporary jazz and folk, indie rock, downtempo electronic music, and even dub reggae. Among their releases are a self-titled album (2013) and Hyperlust, an exceptional four-track EP (2015). Both of them were issued independently, as digital downloads, through a Bandcamp page, and were available on streaming services. ~ Andy Kellman, Rovi
