Buchanan is the project of UK-born Josh Simons in collaboration with friends. In January 2019 they announced their retirement with a mixtape called The Crayon Collection. Celebrating the band's 10 year career, the mixtape includes The Beep Test, first released in November 2016 ahead of the band's sold-out arena support slots with Keith Urban & Carrie Underwood. The single was the first taste of Simons’ writing sessions at GOOD Music in Los Angeles with legendary producer Anthony Kilhoffer (Kanye West, JAY-Z). Their next collaboration would be heard on CyHi The Prynce's debut album No Dope On Sundays where Simons & Kilhoffer co-wrote & produced final track I'm Fine (feat. Travis Scott) featuring Travis Scott. This was followed up with production & writing on Allan Kingdom's Peanut Butter Prince, executive production on Tre Capital album Hero & writing on Church Of The Lonely for Cobi.
The band has released two critically acclaimed studio albums, Human Spring & Pressure in an Empty Space. The latter was released in April 2016 & recorded in the UK with renowned producer Simon Duffy (Leftfield, Mr Hudson). The album documented Simons time during the compounding experiences of the breakdown of a committed relationship whilst dealing with an obscure form of cancer in 2014, which Tone Deaf described as "a stunning & incredibly moving piece of work." Simons is also the CEO & co-founder of musician social-professional network Vampr.
